Site Plan - Main Level

1904 Wing
The Great Rooms of the 1904 building are restored and made into a Current Periodicals Room and a Reading Room, which will also house the Large Print collection. The removal of the circulation desk from “Kidder Hall” allows room for exhibits of art.

Addition:
The main entry at the right (west) side brings the visitor on a level grade to the lobby where it will be easy to find new books, the main desk, the Children’s Room entrance and the main staircase to the upper level.

The Children’s Room is greatly expanded, with a preschool activity area, some reading seats and many tables. A story–hour room is convenient to the children’s room and should open onto a garden space.

Parents and kids can check out at the main desk, allowing staff to serve whichever area is currently busy, the Children’s Room or the adult library.

The video and audio collections are convenient to the desk, as is the new book collection.
