Children's Rooms
East Milton's Children's Room hosts "Roxaboxen", Aug. 10, 2007.
East Milton's Children's Room holds a nice variety of children's books, audio CD's, DVDs, books on CD or tape and magazines, including a lot of materials brought over from the Main Library
The Kidder Branch also has a Children's Section with a broad selection of titles taken from the Main Library's collection. New titles will be added to both locations throughout the year.
Children age 5 and older may obtain a library card. A parent's signature is required on the application for any child who has not yet completed sixth grade. Proof of address is also required, and the parent's ID is usually used for this purpose. Your library card lets you draw on the resources of the 26 other town libraries in Old Colony Library Network, as well as other library networks around the state, via the Virtual Catalog.
Our preschool story programs have four primary objectives:
- To foster the development of pre-reading skills
- To introduce families to the library and its resources and to help establish the "library habit"
- To provide a structured introduction to group interaction
- To provide parents and caregivers with practical and specific techniques for introducing and incorporating books and reading into the home environment.
Carefully prepared programs, presented by trained staff provide an important learning experience for young children. Your cooperation in complying with the age level requirements for individual programs is essential, and appreciated.
