May in the Wotiz Gallery
Painting Exhibit by Michael Petringa
Our May display in the Wotiz Gallery is by talented painter Michael
Petringa. A resident of Braintree, MA, Michael graduated from New
England School of Art and Design, Boston, and majored in advertising
with a minor in painting. He worked in the art department of a major
company for about 3 years, but then decided to move to Florence, Italy.
He lived in Europe for about 15 years, studying painting, and taught
drawing and painting. He became very interested in faux painting, which
was having a kind of renaissance at the time. In Europe, he was the
primary graphic designer for an advertising agency in Florence, and also
taught drawing and painting in the local schools in Munich. Michael
discovered abstraction and expressionism while in Europe, also
mastering various mediums. When Mr. Petringa returned to the U.S. permanently, he established a
flourishing decorative arts business.
After 14 years, he now finds
himself in the position where he can balance both his decorative and
fine arts businesses. His works can be found in private and corporate
collections both here and abroad. He will hold a free and open
reception on Wednesday, May 8th from 6-8 PM to celebrate his exhibit.
His website is www.petringa.com.
